Ok so I just realised this was supposed to be done yesterday, what with it being the WWW Wednesday update and all. I never said I was the most organised book blogger… Anyway, better late than never, here’s what I’ve been reading this past week.
Recently Finished: A DEAD DJINN IN CAIRO by P. Djèlí Clark
This was a delightful short story and my first P. Djèlí Clark read. I only heard of him fairly recently actually, when a few folks were getting excited about his upcoming release Ring Shout. A DEAD DJINN IN CAIRO is a short steampunk mystery set in an alternate early 20th century Egypt. I actually just posted my review today, go take a look.
Currently Reading: FOUNDRYSIDE by Robert Jackson Bennett
Everyone has been recommending I read this book for months now and I’ve finally picked it up for Wyrd & Wonder. It came up when I was asking for book recommendations featuring hard magic systems (scriving is basically magical coding), industrial fantasy (Tevanne is an industrial city of foundries and manufactories) and just generally good books I need to read. I’m only a couple of chapters in right now but hoping to enjoy this one after all the hype!
Next Read: KINGS OF THE WYLD by Nicholas Eames
Again, I’m a mood reader, so this is tentative, but it’s also on my Wyrd & Wonder TBR and it sounds like a whole bunch of fun. Think old dad rock band gets back together for one last tour, except the dad rock band is a party of mercenaries long past their glory days. It sounds like a blast and I’m looking forward to just having a fun read without too much baggage.
If you want to take part in WWW Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Words, just answer the following questions:
What have you just read?
What are you currently reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Let me know what you’re reading and if you enjoyed this update follow the blog to never miss a post!
Kings of the Wyld is a blast. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I’m reading Kings of the Wyld right now! It’s quite fun, I’m enjoying how much the “rock band” lifestyle and terminology just naturally fits over being a fantasy mercenary band.

I think I need a bit of somewhat light-hearted humour and adventure at the mo an Kings of the Wyld sounds like it fits the bill 🙂
